Rain can be expected at any time of year and snow may fall between June and December of the higher peaks. The north-facing slopes of the mountain are warmer and drier than those facing south. Access: From Swellendam take Andrew Whyte St and follow the Swellendam State Forest/Swellendam Conservation Area signposts for 2 km to the reserve. Obtain permits for Swellendam Hiking Trail in advance, day visit permits at the office during weekday office ours (for weekends, in advance) Accommodation: 6 overnight huts with bunks/mattresses for hikers only, Swellendam has hotels, self-catering accommodation and a camping and caravan site.
